Arts – Through the Arts Department, members support groups such as Life Span through donations of art supplies or money Life Span is for mentally challenged children – adults that do pottery, painting, and other art skills that make them feel proud of what they do and who they are Art supplies are also donated to Ada Jenkins Day Care Center for preschool and after school programs Members also enjoy going on tours to museums in the area.

Community Affairs – This past year our new members special project was to decorate and host the opening reception for the Lake Norman Free Clinic Drapes were made, walls were painted, and toilets cleaned Members also made over 80 blankets for the children at Barium Springs Lee’s Living Center enjoyed fruit donated by the Woman’s Club Food and money were collected and taken to Huntersville and Ada Jenkins Center food pantries They helped to get a book club started at Gatlin Juvenile Center This Department keeps their eyes and ears open for projects that come up during the year

Conservation – Reuse, Recycle, and Reuse again This department keeps members informed of what can be taken to the Recycling Center There is always lots of trash to pick up on Big Sweep day Planting of historical trees at North Mecklenburg and Hopewell High School is always a fun project One or two scholarships are given every year for a child to attend the Carolina Raptor Center day camp The big hit this year was the donation of Butterfly Gardens to all the local elementary schools

Education – Two students from North Mecklenburg, Mallard Creek and Hopewell High Schools will receive $1,000 scholarships each. These scholarships are based on need and academics. We also give a $1,000 scholarship to a woman who is working and going back to school.

International Affairs – The need is great in our community and we spend the majority of our fundraising efforts here in our community However, we can’t turn our heads to others who are in need Our International Affairs Department gives members a chance to work on Operation Christmas Child where we usually put together over 75 boxes and work the center We also donated toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss, and money to Operation Smile and Smile Train.
Our Double Harvest – Haiti program is very near and dear to us because we have a member whose family has built a church and school for the Haitians They travel there about once a month and take clothes, medical supplies, and toys to those that so desperately need it For the many countries that participate in the Heifer project, we have bought our share of pigs, goats, and chickens.
